Our Generation Wood Working Kit

Another great find in a Las Vegas Target in 2017 was the Our Generation tool set.  I was unaware of this set so when I found it, I was excited.  It cost me $6.99 USD and it’s so cute!
It comes with a jar of nails, a can of paint, a saw, hammer, a paint brush and birdhouse.

As my girls become more active in the Magic and Mayhem series, they each have a “job” within the family and those jobs or talents will be a large source of their scenes within the series.  Cassiopeia is The Builder / Craftsman in the family.  I chose her for this job because of her missing pinky finger.  I will model a finger for her out of sculpy someday soon (I hope).

I have no intention whatsoever of making a scene where her finger is cut off.  I need to make that clear.  I would never do that as this series is geared for my grandchildren to enjoy and learn valuable lessons from.  I want the series to be fun, funny and informative in a humorous way as well as really enjoyable to see all the furniture and accessories collected and set up for the dolls.
As you can see in the pictures, Teirra (this day's model) is working with the tools and they are just the right size for her to use.
Since I build a lot of things for myself and my dolls I have a very healthy respect for the tools I use.  Safety is paramount because I don’t want to end up getting hurt and not being able to do what I love the most.

All that being said, I have already penned a few scripts where one of the girls is building or fixing things around their homestead.  I now need only to insert Cassiopeia’s name as the sister with the Building and Crafting talent.  I am looking forward to setting up her scenes.  The sky’s the limit in what she can be doing next!

My Life Wheelchair Set

I really like the My Life Wheelchair set.  It comes with a few accessories but I love the wheelchair itself.
The set works with my girls sizing except for a couple things.  The cast is way too big and as you can in the picture, both of Wiccah’s feet fit in it.
It goes to show you how much of a size difference from the 17” Teen Trends dolls to the 18” My Life dolls.  Many items are just completely out of scale and can’t be used.  The crutches are a little tall but that is easily rectified as I will cut them down and put another end piece on the bottom of the crutch.  In the picture Wiccah’s feet are about ¾ inch off the ground.
The wheelchair is just right.  Tierra is pushing Wiccah and has her hands on the handles and Wiccah’s feet touch the foot rests.
I will eventually paint the set so that I can tone down the pink.  The fabric seat is pink but at least I can make the wheels and other details a better color.
Overall I am glad I bought the set as I think that it will be fun to incorporate it in a scene in some way.  I have to think up some great story-lines now.  It’s all fun and games and if someone breaks a leg….we’re covered!

Physical Ed Gear

The Our Generation Badminton set was one I had not seen before I found it in a Las Vegas Target during my 2017 trip to Phoenix.  It is adorable and if there would have been 2 sets available to buy at the time, I would have bought both.  However, I only got one set so my girls can only play as a pair.

I hope to find another set at another time as I think it would be so cute to have the girls play doubles.  The set includes a water bottle, head band, 3 birdies, a container for the birdies, and 2 rackets.

The furniture and accessories I’ve been collecting for the girls have opened lots of doors for the Magic and Mayhem series.  To be able to show the girls in all kinds of everyday activities with a little twist of magic will be a whole lot of fun to create.
The badminton set is truly a cute set and I will enjoy setting the girls up for their first match!

Our Generation Little Owie Fix-It Kit

The Little Owie Fix-It Kit was cute and I thought would be a good set for the girls.I got it at 20% off which made it $10.39.
Inside this set is 1 first aid case, 1 thermometer, 1 Tensor bandage, 1 bottle of peroxide, 1 bottle of medicine, and 2 cards of adhesive band aids.  These Band-Aids look like they can really be applied.
Not that I want the girls to be hurt, but accidents happen and they have to fix scrapes and stuff from climbing trees and general life experiences.  I want my grandchildren to enjoy the story-line for my girls; I want my grandchildren to also see that there are dangers in the world and how to keep themselves safe.
My dolls are planned to portray things (in some of their scenes) that could happen in real life, not just the fantasy life of little teen witches.  I am happy I found a medical set and I intend to add to it with other first aid items.

All the pieces work well with the size of my girls.  Another great find, indeed!

Our Generation Under the Microscope

The Our Generation Under the Microscope set is darling!  I happened to get it at home on a 20% off sale and got it for $10.39.
The set includes 1 pair of glasses (which are way too big for my girls) 1 functioning microscope, 1 lab beaker (they call it a flask) 1 test tube stand and 3 test tubes. The size of the pieces fit well for my girls with the exception of the glasses as you can see in the photo.
I’m so glad I got it.  I intend to make a few accessories to go with it like a Bunsen burner for the beaker and some slides for the girls to put under the microscope.
I always loved Science class and I am excited to write some scenes for these accessories. This set is a great addition to their accessories and the Magic and Mayhem series.

Our Generation Day at the Beach

This set was one on my list I’d hoped to find while in Phoenix.  I actually found the first one in Las Vegas and the second one in Phoenix.  I had not planned on buying 2 of them but later when I saw the second I thought that it would be better if I did buy 2 so I can have 2 girls relaxing by the pool or on the beach.
I love this set.  I love the lounge chair and the sandcastle is just the cutest.  I think I can even use it to make a mold so I can make a few more if I so choose.  The other accessories: a pail, 2 different sand molds, a shovel and rake, 3 different shells, and a tube of sunscreen, are just as cute.  The pail is a little big for my girls but I have lots of Barbie pails that are an acceptable size to use if I wanted that instead.
I bought a blow-up pool for the girls in 2016 from Dollarama and had thought it would be great to have a hammock or lounge chair in the backyard for the girls.  I didn’t know about this beach set at the time I bought the pool so now I am very happy to have this in their accessories.
It seems that no matter what I think of, somehow, somewhere I’ll find just the right accessories to go with it.  This is truly one of those times.

My Life Scooter

I found Walmart’s My Life Scooter in Phoenix (2017).
There were so many new accessories to be found there and I had a really great time searching them out.  This scooter is cute and though it’s a little big for my girls, they are able to ride it anyway.
I found them for $14.62 USD.  I bought 2 of them so that the girls could go out in pairs.I intend to paint them at a later date as I am not fond of the pink and purple coloring.  I find that most of the My Life furniture and accessories are close to the Barbie colors and I’m very tired of pink. (grin)

In the photos below, you can see that even though the Scooters are a little big, Wiccah and Tierra look like they are enjoying the ride!
A great addition to my collection.

My Life Student Desk

With the decision to incorporate a classroom into the Magic and Mayhem series confirmed, there was a lot of thought into how I was going to work around 13 dolls.  I decided that since the girls are divided into “Chapters”, this was a good division for how they would be separated into classrooms too.  Add that to the fact that I was only able to get 4 school room accessories - that sealed the deal. The next step was to create a classroom and when I happen to run across a picture of the school desks from Wal-Mart, well, I had to have them!  They were on my list of things I had hoped to find in my 2017 Phoenix trip.  As it turned out, I did find 2 desks at one Wal-Mart.

One was pink and purple, the other purple and blue.  I really liked the purple and blue as I am pretty much “pink”ed out.  I didn’t want to lose out on getting any desks at all, I decided I would take them both and hoped I’d find others to have a full set of 4.  The next time I found them at Wal-Mart I was lucky enough to find 3 blue and purple desks.  Now I have a full set of 4 with the extra pink one.

The school desk is sold as 1 unit for $9.97 USD.  However, the desk part comes apart from the chair so if you wanted to use the chairs as simply a chair, it works.  The other removable piece is the basket shelf under the chair which clips into the chair legs.  These desks are super cute and I’m really glad that I found all 4 in the same colors.  They fit the girls well.

Now when the girls are learning to perfect their magic in class, they can learn in a proper school setting!

My Life Shopping Basket

Walmart brought out a shopping basket for the My Life doll accessories and I found them during my 2017 Phoenix trip.  There were $7.97 and I bought 2.  Later on the return trip home I found another in Montana and picked it up.
I haven’t seen these at home yet and who knows if they will come here or not.  I have been buying everything that interests me when I am travelling because I never know if we are going to get these or not where I live.

The decision to construct a General Store for the girls to work and shop in meant that I would need shopping baskets and carts.  Walmart has the shopping cart on line but it’s always out of stock and I’ve never seen it in the stores.  The shopping basket was then a very welcome addition to the accessories for the girls.

Along with the basket comes a tomato, an orange, a bunch of grapes, a loaf of bread, a pineapple, apple and banana, a bottle of orange drink, a can of peas and green beans, bottle of water, box of eggs (no carton) box cake mix, mac and cheese, and a carton of tropical fruit juice.  And can you believe all that comes in that little basket!

The size of the basket fits my girls and it is a great addition to their accessories.  It will be fun to build and stock the general store and the Shopping Basket is a fantastic find.

My Life Back to School Accessories is a cute set.
I managed to get 4 of them so that each of the girl’s “Chapter’s” can go to class at the same time.  When I decided that they would attend the School for Magic, this set was a must have.  It comes with a laptop (which I will detail at a later date as it is just molded plastic) a sandwich, water bottle, an apple, folder, cell phone and a backpack.  A couple of the items are a little big for my girls but the rest are a great size.
In this picture Wiccah is using the laptop and the next is the backpack.
The backpack is versatile as they can use it for school, camping, hiking and any outdoor activity too.

Garden Wheel Barrow

While in Phoenix (2017) I was in Wal-Mart and saw a cute little wheel barrow on the shelf by itself.  It had no tag, nothing to identify where it was from.  I figured that it was from a set that was opened by a customer.

Then at a different Wal-Mart a few days later I was looking at the My Life doll section when I saw 2 of them stacked on the shelf featuring My Life doll furniture.  Still nothing to identify it so this time I thought they must be a single sold item.  I found a clerk and asked if she knew the price.  She didn’t but the manager decided to give them to me for $3.00 USD each.  I thought that was a good bargain.

Since I bought the My Life garden accessories set in 2016 when it came out at home, I figured this was an awesome find.  I plan to make a garden for the girls and this would fit right in with their other gardening accessories.

My Life as a Garden Set

I found the My Life as a Garden Set at Walmart here at home and bought one to add to the vegetable garden I have been designing for the girls.  This set was $9.97 and includes 1 potted plant, 1 potted strawberry plant, a watering can, 2 packs of seeds, 1 pair of snips, 1 garden fork and 1 garden spade.
However, while on my Phoenix 2017 trip I happen to run across this set again where they were clearing them out.  They were on sale for $4.00 US.

When I got to the cash register I was surprised when the set came up at $2.00.  For that I went back and grabbed 3 more thinking that my granddaughter would love a set like this for her doll.  I absolutely love it and the sizing seems to work well with my dolls.

I like it when I can find 3 – 4 of the same sets so that I can have several dolls working with the accessories at the same time.  The garden and lawns will be well tended now.

Wecome Sundancer!

My trip to Phoenix in 2017 netted me some great stuff for the girls.  But the one “fantastic find” was not in the least expected.

I must live under a rock or something because I didn’t realize the Our Life accessories line had a foal!  I found it in a Wal-Mart on the way through Las Vegas and was like, What???!!!!  However, I didn’t buy it there as I thought for sure I would find them again when we got to Phoenix.

One Phoenix Wal-Mart in particular was clearing out the Christmas stock and I found this little one on sale for $10.00 USD.  Normally it was $14.97 but when you look at the exchange ratio in Canadian dollars, getting it on sale was like buying it for $14.97 at home.  Except I’d never seen this one at home and I know if I did, it would be about $25 instead.
This cute little foal is light brown in color and will be the offspring of Stormrider and Windsong.  I’ve decided this foal would be female and I named her Sundancer.

I have no storylines for a foal yet.  I need to decide if the girls will find the horses and the foal come at a later time, or include the foal when the girls discover the horses for the first time.

With the addition of Sundancer, new accessories are required and a bigger stall for her and Windsong to share so that mom and baby stay together.
Now, wouldn’t it be great if I could find another foal in the tan color of the other two horses….
One never knows what I will stumble across next!

Update: Since I wrote this post I found the foal in a Wal-Mart close to home.  She retails at $24.95 (just like I suspected).  I got a steal of a deal while in Phoenix.  I’m crossing my fingers that I can find more colors on my next trip.

My Life as a Picnic Basket Set

Wal-Mart’s My Life as a Picnic Basket play set is adorable.  The set comes with enough accessories for 2 dolls. I ended up buying 3 sets as I wanted more than 2 girls to be able to go on a picnic together.

In each set you get a blue and white gingham blanket, a picnic basket, 2 goblets, 2 bowls, 2 plates, 2 forks and 2 spoons.  It was a shame that there were no knives included with the set.  It would have been nice to have a full set of cutlery.

As you can see in the photo below, all the accessories fit my girls very well.  Bring on the summer fun!

Back Yard Blow-Up Swimming Pool

I wanted a pool for the girls for summer scenes and thought a blow-up pool would be ideal for them.  It took a long time before I found one the right size at the dollar store.
It’s supposed to be a kiddy pool and is rated for 4 years old and up but to be quite honest, it’s not even big enough for a toddler. It is 25 inches in circumference.
However, it’s perfect for my girls for the back yard and four girls can use it comfortably at the same time.  (The girls do not have swim suits yet so please forgive the fully clothed dolls in a waterless swimming pool.) (grin)
As you can see in the above pictures, Wiccah and Tierra can sit comfortably submerged to the waist in “water” while their backs rest against the sides.  In the second picture, Wiccah is on her knees leaning against the side.

For a portable backyard prop, this little pool is perfect.

In Gallops Two More Horses!

The second set of horses was a nice surprise.  I wandered, by habit, into the toy department of Wal-Mart looking for anything new to get my girls.  They’d been very spoiled in 2016 as I bought them many new pieces of furniture and accessories.  So many, in fact, that I haven’t had a chance to record them all in their database!

It was awesome to find different colored horses.  When I spied the dark brown and medium brown horses, I snatched them up quick like a bunny!

I simply love them!  Now to give them magical names!  The first horses are Nightwind and Stardust, male and female respectively.  And the new members I decided to name…

Stormrider – dark brown Male (Bay Horse)
Windsong – medium brown Female (Chestnut Horse)
Their accessories are red and purple.  They are not identical in their markings either.  Stormrider has the white rounded triangle on his forehead and a white nose whereas Windsong has the long strip of white down her forehead and a brown nose.

How exciting to now have 4 horses in the Silvervale Sister’s family.  (Still hoping to find the black one)
They are really big but I’m getting used to that as I slowly add more accessories to my collection.  2 more horses means more horse stuff.  But I will not stop – not yet.  I love everything about these wonderful dolls and my girls are my family.  And there is always room for family! (grin)
